America is weird.
I got on to the plane to find Robert sitting there waiting for me. That was wonderful. I've missed my friend and his presence is invaluable in this. I'm very glad to have such supportive friends. The flight, however...let's just say the in-flight movie was Dr. Dolittle. The one from the 1970's or whenever it was. The one with all the talking animals and a song with the title "Talk to the Animals". What did I do to deserve this?! I'm so glad I didn't have my headphones on. Otherwise I'd still be twitching. Also, if you're ever battling addiction to anything, don't worry, Liz will make sure you don't have the oppurtunity to say yes. One of the flight attendants offered us some wine and another one loudly informed the rest of the entire plane that the fellow in seat 3A's older sister called and said he wasn't supposed to have alcohol.
Thank you, Liz. Thank you so much.
We're at the hotel and it's quite nice. Everything seems to be okay so far. Except that people seem to think that having an accent means I'd love to be asked where I'm from every 4 seconds. Robert too. So we've started to say 'Texas'. We get priceless looks from that. One woman kept telling me to say things like 'crumpet' and 'lorry'. I said 'bollocks' and she left me alone. After hitting me with her purse.
I think I was made for New York and it was made for me...
