My kids didn't go to school today. Instead we stayed home because Caleb has an appointment at three. They watched movies the other day though, and weren't interested in doing so again. They're not really in to vegging out in front of the television because it doesn't involve much action. That's something I'm very thankful for. What did we do instead? The built forts in the playroom out of sofa cushions and pillows and then we had a sockwar. It was Caleb and me against Lydia, Anna and Thomas, which is really unfair if you think about it. I only have one arm that's not broken. So it was 6 arms to 3! Aly decided to remain neutral, though she did enjoy mocking. And then Rosa came in and I thought she'd join our team to even it up but she didn't understand the rules. She took her own sock off and threw that at me. It landed on my head, and that was a distinctly unpleasent experience as it would have been for anyone who doesn't like dirty things. In the end, Thomas and the girls knocked down our fort so they won. It was bound to be thus. Then Thomas gave them all 'pony rides' while Aly and I made lunch. She had to make sure I didn't burn anything, you see. I think I'm getting kind of better at cooking!
I love my family. I love that we can come together and have fun even with something like this rather oppressive doctor's appointment hanging above us. They make everything worth it and more.
